हिन्दी अनुवाद- आसाम भारत के उत्तर-पूर्वी भाग में स्थित एक राज्य है। यह पूर्वी हिमालय की निचली पहाड़ियों के ठीक नीचे स्थित है। यह अरुणाचल प्रदेश, मणिपुर, मिज़ोरम, नागालैण्ड, त्रिपुरा और मेघालय राज्यों से घिरा हुआ है, जो आसाम समेत ‘सात बहनें’ कहलाती हैं। दिसपुर आसाम की राजधानी है।
आसाम प्राकृतिक सुंदरता से भरा हुआ है। इसमें नीली पहाड़ियाँ, विशेष पेड़-पौधे और जीव-जंतुओं से भरे घने जंगल, बड़ी नदियाँ और उपजाऊ घाटियाँ हैं। आसाम भारत का वह राज्य है जो दुनिया में सर्वाधिक चाय का उत्पादन करता है। ब्रहमपुत्र नदी आसाम से होकर जाती है।
खेती यहाँ का मुख्य पेशा है। चावल, फल, जूट, गन्ना और चाय यहाँ के मुख्य कृषि उत्पाद हैं। यह राज्य देश के चाय उत्पादन का लगभग आधा भाग उगाता है। यह राज्य प्राकृतिक संसाधनों जैसे-तेल, गैस, कोयला और चूना पत्थर में भी धनी है।
पारंपरिक शिल्प जैसे मिट्टी के बर्तन और टेरेकोटा का काम, पीतल शिल्प, आभूषण बनाना, बाँस शिल्प, रेशम और सूत की बुनाई ओर लकड़ी शिल्प आसाम के लोगों के प्रमुख स्व-रोजगार के साधन हैं।

हिन्दी अनुवाद- आसाम अपने राष्ट्रीय उद्यानों के लिए भी प्रसिद्ध है। राष्ट्रीय उद्यान एक बहुत बड़ा जंगल का क्षेत्र होता है। सरकार इन उद्यानों की देख-रेख करती है। काजीरंगा राष्ट्रीय उद्यान एक प्रसिद्ध वन्य-जीवन अभ्यारण्य है। गैंडे, हाथी, तेंदुए और भारतीय जंगली भैंसा कुछ ऐसे जानवर हैं जिन्हें आप काजीरंगा में देख सकते हैं। आप इन जंगली जानवरों को देखने के लिए खुली जीप, कार या मिनी बस से जंगल में जा सकते हैं। अगर आप चाहें, तो आप हाथी की पीठ पर भी सफर कर सकते हैं।
आसाम के लोग असमिया भाषा बोलते हैं। आसाम त्यौहारों की भूमि भी है। बीहु आसाम का एक प्रसिद्ध त्यौहार है। यह अप्रैल महीने में मनाया जाता है। सभी धर्मों के लोग समारोह में भाग लेते हैं। यह समारोह पूरे महीने तक चलता है। युवा पुरुष और महिलाएँ स्वर्ण-रंग के वस्त्र पहनते हैं और एक विशेष नृत्य ‘बीहु नृत्य करते हैं।
बीहु त्यौहार के दौरान नाव दौड़ प्रतियोगिता भी होती हैं। बहुत सी टीमें इन दौड़ों में भाग लेती हैं और बहुत से लोग इन्हें नदी के किनारों से देखते हैं।
